Easing Congestion in Southwest Austin
We worked with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to award a $667 million design-build-warrant contract for Austin, Texas’ Oak Hill Parkway in September 2020.
“[Oak Hill Parkway] is a long time coming,” said TxDOT spokesperson Bradley Wheelis. “There have been temporary fixes, and we’ve outgrown those because that area is exploding with development.”
The intersection of SH 71 and US 290 is a key route connecting central Austin to the fast-growing suburban and rural communities surrounding the city. The Oak Hill Parkway project will reconstruct the US 290 and SH 71 interchange and add approximately seven miles of non-tolled improvements. The corridor includes an increase in bike and pedestrian accommodations such as 14 miles of shared-use path and 1 1/2 miles of sidewalks. The innovative contract includes a 5-year performance warranty and unique contracting mechanisms for ensuring compliance with commitments to the community in the environmentally sensitive Oak Hill area.
