Chris Carney commented on the 2024 presidential election in two articles for The Hill, both discussing the critical swing state of Pennsylvania.

For the article “Vice President Harris holds narrow lead over Trump in Pennsylvania polls,” Chris told The Hill, “Vice President Harris and Governor Walz would do well spending a few days in the interior of the Commonwealth. There are gettable independent and blue dog votes there, but those voters need to see Harris and Walz, assess them up close and develop some comfort with them. The voters there need to hear directly that a Harris administration will not end fracking, will not take away guns and will keep the nation secure.”

For the article “In Pennsylvania, the Ukraine vote could prove pivotal,” Chris stated, “Large portions of the Polish and Ukrainian populations in Pennsylvania are so-called Trump Democrats, who look at the entirety of his policies — but being so openly pro-Putin probably undercuts Trump’s support. It’s unclear if Polish and Ukrainian Pennsylvanians are more concerned about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine than they are about the economy or immigration. But I cannot imagine that Trump’s recent vitriolic comments about Ukraine, Zelensky and NATO help his standing within those communities.”

Chris represented Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District for two terms and was a tenured professor of political science specializing in international relations at Penn State University. Prior to running for Congress, he worked at the Pentagon for four years on strategic analysis of the global terrorist threat, ran the Department of Defense’s Policy Counterterrorism Evaluation Group (PCTEG) and was the “Special Projects” intelligence officer for two tours during Operation Southern Watch. Chris received a Presidential appointment as a Commissioner on the Military Compensation and Retirement Modernization Commission (MCRMC) and served as a Senior Intelligence Specialist for the National Aviation Intelligence Integration Office (NAI2O).
