Fred Dombo Comments on Impact of COVID-19 Relief Bill on Transportation Industry
Fred Dombo was quoted in the Law360 story “Hard-Hit Airlines, Public Transit Score In COVID-19 Relief Bill” (subscription required). The article provides an overview of how the $2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act, or H.R. 748—the third bill to come out of Congress offering businesses and citizens COVID-19 assistance—will support the transportation industry.
While the bill will provide much needed relief across a number of areas, many experts believe that a subsequent relief bill coming from Congress will provide additional, and perhaps more significant, aid to the transportation and infrastructure sector. Commenting on how the sector will keep its eyes on what will be included in a such a bill, Fred said that “While there was about $31.5 billion in this third COVID-19 package for transit, airport improvements and Amtrak, the real infrastructure investment is likely to come in a fourth package… that Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chair John Barrasso, R-Wyo., wants his committee’s highway bill to be the foundation for phase four, while the House is eyeing an even larger investment across infrastructure.”
