Randy Boyer authored the article “A Look at Sephora CCPA Case Through an Employment Lens” (subscription required) for Law360. In the article, Randy provides an overview of a recent California Consumer Privacy Act case from an employment angle.
Randy writes, “California's Office of the Attorney General announced a settlement of an enforcement action under the California Consumer Privacy Act [that] marks the first time the attorney general's office has sought a court order imposing civil penalties for violations of the CCPA. The attorney general settled the matter with the cosmetics company Sephora USA Inc. for $1.2 million and a two year compliance-monitoring agreement…[and] the settlement provides a practical look at how the office of the attorney general will enforce the provisions of the CCPA and its interpretations of certain of the statute's provisions.”
