TRB's Annual Workshop on Transportation Law
The Transportation Research Board (TRB) hosted its 55th Annual Workshop on Transportation Law on July 17-20, 2016 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC. This program attracted several hundred lawyers, engineers, and transportation planners from across the country. The workshop provided a forum for federal, state, and local highway and transit organizations to exchange problems and propose solutions. Workshop participants presented unusual cases and identified potential legal problems before they become widespread predicaments.
This year's workshop featured several presentations by Nossaman attorneys across different practices. On July 19, Ed Kussy spoke on a panel about, "Recovering Fair Market Value from 'Utilities' Seeking Longitudinal Occupation of Limited Access Facilities," from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. From 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., Nancy Smith moderated the session, "Design-Build Issues: Liability for Design Defects and for Delays in Property Acquisition," a panel that Rick Rayl also spoke on.
On July 20, Ed participated in two more panels. From 8:00 to 9:30 a.m., he was a co-panelist on "Diversity and Discrimination: 'What's Up in Civil Rights Enforcement?'" From 9:45 to 11:15 a.m., he moderated the panel on "Ethics Chaos: Three Ethics Traps Controversies and Perils, and How to Avoid Them."
