Derek J. Kliewer

Derek Kliewer assists clients on a full range of environmental and land use law matters. His practice spans litigation and transactional matters involving the Endangered Species Act (ESA), the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA), the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), the California Coastal Act and various California environmental and land use laws.

During law school, Derek served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Dale A. Drozd of the United States District Court, Eastern District of California.

Experience

Renewable Energy. Derek is frequently involved in assisting renewable energy clients in preparing permitting opinions and transactional support in connection with federal, state, and local natural resources and environmental issues.
