Shant Boyajian Quoted on Stimulus Support for P3 Opportunities
Shant Boyajian was featured in the Inframation article, “Infra Support In Stimulus To Create P3 Opportunities.” The article provides an overview of efforts to provide support for public-private partnerships (P3s) in the next COVID-19 stimulus package. House of Representatives Ways and Means Chairman Richard E. Neal has reignited interest in the area by stating that the package will include support for infrastructure including Building America Bonds and private activity bonds.
Shant commented, "There are ongoing discussions between the White House and Democrat members of the House of Representatives on including infrastructure in a new stimulus bill…but it will ultimately be up to McConnell and Pelosi to determine if infrastructure is included in the new bill.”
He added, “Some policymakers are advocating for the reauthorization of surface transportation legislation, the FAST Act, to be included in a new bill, in addition to stimulus funding for infrastructure akin to what was included in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. However FAST Act reauthorization will likely raise some transportation policy issues, such as the role of autonomous vehicles and streamlining the federal approval process, that may prevent it from being included in a stimulus bill that has to pass quickly.”
