LAX Automated People Mover Project Recognized with Award for Best Transit Project
Nossaman would like to congratulate Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and the City of Los Angeles for the recognition each organization received at P3 Bulletin’s annual P3 Awards ceremony, which was held in New York City on October 9, 2018. LAWA and the City of Los Angeles were noted for the excellence and innovation of the Automated People Mover (APM) project at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)—the project won the Gold Award in the Best Transit Project category.
The APM is the first project of its type procured under a design, build, finance, operate, maintain model in North America and is the largest contract awarded in the history of Los Angeles. The $4.9 billion project is at the centerpiece of the airport’s Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP) and covers six stations, the operating system and vehicles, plus a maintenance and storage facility. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has said that LAMP will transform how L.A. thinks about travel, and get people in and out the airport faster and more conveniently."
A Nossaman team, led by Infrastructure Practice Group Chair Patrick Harder and Partners Geoff Yarema, Andrée Blais, Barney Allison, and Brandon Davis and Associate Frank Liu provided legal counsel on this award-winning project and continues to work with LAWA on other facets of LAMP, such as the Consolidated Rental Car Center (ConRAC), which will be the world’s largest consolidated rental car center when completed.
