"Court OKs groundwater-cleanup plan: Agreement provides funds for perchlorate treatment"

Nossaman Partner, Fred Fudacz, is quoted in this Los Angeles Daily News article on a recent bankruptcy court approval of a $100 million settlement to clean up contaminated groundwater in the Santa Clarita Valley of Los Angeles. Nossaman’s Water Law Practice Group worked to secure the settlement for our clients, Castaic Lake Water Agency, Newhall County Water District, Santa Clarita Water Company and Valencia Water Company.

Mr. Fudacz lead the litigation team in the case against current and past owners of an industrial site formerly used in the production of munitions. Of the bankruptcy court settlement approval, he said, within 30 days of the final court approval, funding of the treatment project will begin and an initial payment of $22.5 million will be received by the water agencies.
