Can California Afford to Modernize Infrastructure?

Nossaman Infrastructure Practice Group Co-Chair Geoff Yarema was quoted in the blog entry, "Can California Afford to Modernize Infrastructure?" The entry details the need for significant infrastructure investments in California and creative alternatives for funding large-scale projects.

Mr. Yarema stated, "The more complex the project, the higher the chance for cost overruns and delays in completion. But it doesn't have to be that way." Alternative contracting methods like design-build and availability payments place more responsibility and risk on the contractors. Other factors to consider are the maintenance of projects because of inadequate focus on lifecycle cost efficiency.
