Brad Kuhn was recognized as one of the “Top 100” lawyers in California (subscription required) by the Daily Journal, California’s leading legal newspaper. The “Top 100” list annually recognizes California lawyers whose work has a profound impact at both the state and national level.

The Daily Journal noted that Brad serves as chair of Nossaman's Eminent Domain and Inverse Condemnation Group, "is a nationally-recognized leader in the areas of eminent domain, inverse condemnation, land use/zoning and other property and business disputes” and has “two decades of experience…guiding public agencies, utilities and property owners through more than $30 billion of real estate development and infrastructure.”

The publication highlighted that during the past year, Brad has served as “the lead real estate counsel for the city of Oakland, advising on the potential relocation of the Oakland Athletics Major League baseball team, which ‘involves extremely complex land rights, lease and license arrangements, and unique bond and finance issues.'” Discussing the work, Brad said, “The transaction is high-profile given the baseball team's planned relocation to Las Vegas.”

Additionally, the Daily Journal featured Brad's representation of “San Diego's transportation agency on…all real estate issues for a more than $2 billion light rail transportation project connecting downtown San Diego through La Jolla.” Brad added, "The project involved acquisition of numerous property interests, difficult coordination with the Federal Transit Administration and oversight of numerous construction-related issues for parking and transit stations.”

Looking back on how his career as an eminent domain lawyer began, the publication wrote that Brad’s passion for eminent domain and inverse condemnation law was “ignited during a law school internship, where he learned about zoning and land use law involving the redevelopment of downtown Long Beach. Since then, he has enjoyed improving communities through critical infrastructure projects.”

Brad closed by stating that in terms of trends in his practice area, “resilience is a large focus in real estate, land use and inverse condemnation law [due to the fact that] wildfires, flooding, landslides, sea-level rise, climate change and the extremes of rainfall and drought will continue to wreak havoc throughout California.”
