Nossaman Supports California ChangeLawyers' Minority Scholarship
Nossaman attorney Marco Costales was joined by Karen Keenan and Tamara Wilson of Kaiser Permanente at the Scholarships for Justice Reception hosted by California ChangeLawyers on October 4, 2018, at La Plaza de Cultura y Artes in downtown Los Angeles. The reception was held in honor of recipients of the California ChangeLawyers’ minority scholarship. This year, Nossaman funded and co-branded with Kaiser Permanente on the scholarship to Montserrat Garcia-Juarez, a first year student at UC Davis School of Law (a/k/a King Hall).
A worthy candidate, Ms. Garcia-Juarez immigrated to the United States at the age of six to reunite with her family. Despite facing uncertainty and obstacles as a member of a mixed-status family with limited resources, she excelled academically and has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including prestigious scholarships, the Dean's Honors List, and the Outstanding Senior Award for her major in Chicana/o Studies at UC Davis. She has remained at Davis to pursue her J.D. at King Hall. We are proud to provide our support to Ms. Garcia-Juarez in pursuing her legal education at this early stage of her legal career.
