Shant Boyajian Quoted on Midterm Election's Impact

Shant Boyajian, an attorney in Nossaman’s Infrastructure Group, was quoted in the Inframation article, Midterm Results May Pave Way For Major Infrastructure Bill.  The article examines how the results of the US midterm elections—where Republicans lost control of the House of Representatives but held control of the Senate—could lead to movement on infrastructure legislation.  

Additionally, the article discusses how the new Chairman of the House Transportation Committee, Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.), will be a key player in the creation and implementation of any broad infrastructure package—some observers think the surface transportation reauthorization, which is set to expire in 2020, could be the basis for such a package.  Commenting on Congressman DeFazio, Shant called him very conversant with infrastructure issues and said that he is supported by one of the most experienced staffs on both sides of the Hill.  

Shant also noted that while a new infrastructure bill may be a priority, organizational issues, particularly when a new party takes control, can take time to get resolved.  I don’t think we can expect a comprehensive reauthorization bill in January, he added.
