Ms. Larson’s involvement with the early implementation of environmental laws was also cited. Speaking of this time, Ms. Larson commented that There wasn't a big body of case law. The agencies didn't know specifics either, so you could have a lot of discussions about how things should go. For example, the Magnuson Act started the rationalization of American fisheries in a scientific way. Instead of everyone starting on day one of the season and fishing until their quota is met, it is now staged over time. It is better for the environment, and it also provides a better market return." Additionally, Ms. Larson’s current work on litigation meant to reorganize and manage fisheries, including [reorganizing] restrictions related to endangered Steller sea lions was noted. For this honor, the National Law Journal recognized a select group of 50 attorneys across the US who are making a big difference and continue to make their mark in various aspects of legal work in the areas of energy and environmental law.
