George Joseph Quoted In Daily Journal On Corporate Practice Trends At Mid-Size Firms
Nossaman Managing Partner George Joseph was quoted in the Daily Journal article "Demand Exceeding Supply for Corporate Lawyers."
The Daily Journal reported that a recent study by Thomson Reuters found that transactional practices at mid-size firms were growing faster than their larger counterparts, and that companies are beginning to engage more readily with mid-size firms for corporate work. Commenting on this trend, Mr. Joseph said that "in today's market, with general counsel under pressure to cut back on their legal budget, there is opportunity for mid-size firms with lower rates to compete for work that companies have historically given to big firms."
Additionally, Mr. Joseph said that mid-size firms can be more appealing for associate-level attorneys looking to work their way up the corporate ladder. "At Biglaw, corporate partners can enjoy working on very sophisticated and challenging transactions, but they also have a large bench of associates to whom they can push down the work," he added. "Often, these associates feel like a 'cog' in a very big wheel and may not have as much opportunity to see the overall transaction."
