Nossaman Partner Robert Thornton was mentioned in the Law360 article "Calif. High Court Could Play Major Role In CEQA Reform" as representing The Expo Authority in Neighbors For Smart Rail v. Exposition Metro Line Construction Authority, one of a handful of cases under review by the California Supreme Court that could pave the way for significant changes to CEQA.

The article notes that the court is set to review whether projections of future data, rather than existing conditions, can be used to determine the environmental impacts of the proposed $1.5 billion Exposition Corridor Light Rail Project (Phase 2) from downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica.  A ruling that would allow the use of a future baseline would give agencies greater flexibility when examining the environmental effects of transportation and other infrastructure projects.  Click here for additional information on the case.
