Brooke Marcus Wahlberg was a guest instructor for "Environmental Compliance & Permitting for Utilities," a course hosted by EUCI on June 9-10, 2021. This two-day program helped attendees identify the permits that may be necessary for their projects and how to plan their compliance approach early on. Brooke and her co-instructors covered the following key topics:
- Necessary environmental permits and the required and/or advisable field surveys;
- National Environmental Policy Act, threatened and endangered species, Endangered Species Act and how they all relate to construction permits;
- How to consult with agencies as necessary and how to obtain approval from respective agencies;
- Details on Cultural Resources and Historic Properties, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers approval and Waters of the United States when it comes to construction permits;
- How to coordinate activities and how to plan for post-construction close-out requirements;
- The importance of industrial stormwater, wastewater and air permits at an operational standpoint; and
- Ongoing environmental regulations on a federal, state and local level.
