Approaches to Response to Comments: Navigating the Nuances
Mary Lynn Coffee participated as a panelist during "Approaches to Response to Comments: Navigating the Nuances" hosted by the Superior California Chapter of the Association of Environmental Professionals on October 19, 2023 in Sacramento.
Developing an approach to responding to comments on CEQA documents not only requires legal and technical expertise but is nuanced with practical considerations. Overall factors to consider when developing responses may include agency policy, project controversy and political context. How do you avoid CEQA recirculation criteria triggers, artfully address gray areas, and identify information the public should have had to allow for meaningful review of and comment on the document? How do you decide on a document development process that is efficient and tailored to the project and anticipated numbers of comments? This workshop presented and explored approaches to developing responses to comments and provided an interactive discussion to help you navigate the nuances.
