It Ain’t Easy Being You: Managing the Attorney-Client Relationship at a Public Pension Fund
On June 23, 2016, Ashley Dunning spoke at the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys' (NAPPA) 2016 Legal Education Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. Ashley co-presented on an ethics panel, "It Ain't Easy Being You: Managing the Attorney-Client Relationship at a Public Pension Fund." This panel covered a range of challenging legal issues surrounding the attorney-client relationship in the context of public pension fund counsel. These issues included rules governing the protection of the attorney-client confidentiality held by public pension fund boards, the legal and practical challenges raised by single trustee issues, as well as potentially contentious interactions between fund counsel and the fund's executive director.
The Legal Education Conference is the premier event exclusive to members hosted by NAPPA every year, designed to provide members an opportunity to meet with peers in the public pension field, discuss current issues facing the industry, and to share practical solutions to common legal problems.
