When Worlds Collide: The Stories of Conflict Between Hospital Administration, the Board and the Medical Staff
David Balfour presented "When Worlds Collide: The Stories of Conflict Between Hospital Administration, the Board and the Medical Staff" during the California Association Medical Staff Services' (CAMSS) 47th Annual Education Forum held May 25-26, 2018 in San Francisco, CA.
During the presentation, David examined a case from January 2016 in which the Board of Directors at a California hospital voted to terminate the hospital's medical staff organization while appointing new medical staff officers and approving new bylaws, all without input of staff. He reviewed best preventative practices to guard against this occurrence.
CAMSS is a state-wide organization established in 1971 for the education and professional development of individuals engaged in medical staff services, activities in healthcare, or healthcare-related organizations.
