Nossaman's Eminent Domain, Environment, Healthcare, Infrastructure and Public Policy Practices Recognized by Chambers

Chambers & Partners has recognized 17 Nossaman attorneys along with the Firm's Eminent Domain and Valuation, Environment & Land Use, Healthcare, Infrastructure and Public Policy Practice Groups in its 2018 Chambers USA guide of leading law firms and lawyers.

In the 2018 edition, Nossaman’s Infrastructure Practice Group is recognized as one of only four firms in the top-tier of law firms nationally in the Projects: Public Private Partnership (PPP) category. Chambers noted that the group is  one of the go-to firms for representation of public sector clients including state authorities, government departments and universities in the PPP space. Clients commented that the group has very highly skilled lawyers who are very well attuned to what is going on in the market, as well as to the needs of their clients. They are good strategic thinkers with an ability to look ahead to the long term." 

Infrastructure Practice Group Partners Barney Allison, Corey Boock, Patrick Harder, Yukiko Kojima and Geoffrey Yarema were selected as leading lawyers in the category. Many of the lawyers in the group were also singled out for individual praise. Patrick Harder, the Chair of the group, was praised by clients for his commercial approach and for being extremely responsive to our needs and very knowledgeable in the area." Clients commented that Geoffrey Yarema is a very strategic contributor, someone who sees the bigger picture and is able to push solutions to the forefront to achieve our business objectives. Chambers noted that clients said Corey Boock was very knowledgeable" and highlighted his ability on transportation, solid waste, water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Barney Allison was commended by clients for being a very accomplished and skilled practitioner who understands the mechanics of the infrastructure financing market very well.  The group was also recognized in the nationwide Transportation: Rail (for Railroads) category.

Chambers also recognized Nossaman as a leading California and Washington law firm in the Environmental law category. Clients commented that the California team is "responsive and provide[s] expert advice" and the Washington team is accessible, open to client input and able to convey a strategy that everyone understands.

Environment and Land Use Practice Group Chair Paul Weiland and Partner Robert Thornton were recognized as leading attorneys in California. Partners Svend Brandt-Erichsen and Linda Larson were highlighted as leading attorneys in Washington, and Partner Steven Quarles was named a leading attorney in the District of Columbia. Many of the lawyers earned individual praise from Chambers.  Mr. Thornton was praised for being responsive and knowledgeable" and for his skill counseling regional and state infrastructure authorities in connection with large-scale projects. Mr. Brandt-Erichsen, was called extremely knowledgeable, calm in crisis situations and practical in his advice" and clients said that when they go to court they want Svend…he is outstanding." Ms. Larson's clients commented that she is a luminary in the field and really well known for her work in the fisheries industry." Mr. Quarles was recognized by commentators as one of the gurus on the Endangered Species Act" and noted for his work in the permitting and compliance area, as well as in litigation.

Nossaman's Public Policy Practice Group was once again recognized in the nationwide Government: Political Law practice area, and group Chair Fred Dombo was named as a leading lawyer in the field. 

Recognized as a leading firm in Healthcare in California, Nossaman’s Healthcare Practice Group was lauded for being very knowledgeable, personable and professional.  Two practice group members were recognized: Partner Mary Powers Antoine was praised by Chambers for her work in the area of regulatory compliance and investigations and her peers commented that she is "well respected and a managed care expert."

Furthermore, Nossaman’s Eminent Domain and Valuation Group received recognition as a leading California law firm in the Real Estate: Zoning/Land Use category. Clients commented that the team as a whole is very responsive to clients, very on top of their written work and very thorough in their pre-filing work.  Bradford Kuhn, Chair of the group, was recognized by Chambers for his work in the field throughout California. Clients noted his practical, business-minded advice" and "high level of decorum in dealing with the other sides.
