AHLA & ASHRM's Enterprise Risk Management for Health Care

Mark Kadzielski has authored a chapter in the 4th Edition of the AHLA & ASHRM publication Enterprise Risk Management for Health Care. The book, just released in March, 2024, addresses both the need for, and implementation of, a comprehensive enterprise risk management process and plan.

Mark’s chapter is titled “Peer Review and Credentialing in an Era of Enterprise Risk Management.” He has authored the chapter on credentialing and peer review in all four editions of this enterprise risk management book. He is a nationwide expert on these topics. This chapter focuses on how and why these critically important areas impact the health care environment. Generally, the chapter covers the following areas:

Health care organizations have little, if any, control over the practice of medicine, but they can exercise substantial control over the qualifications and competence of practitioners who are allowed to provide care to the organizations’ patients. In this era of increased health care grading and transparency, effective peer review and proper credentialing are necessary for health care organizations to minimize risk and improve utilization and quality outcomes.

Indeed, the advent of new types of health care entities, new venues for the delivery of health care services, technological advancements and the recent surge of hospital-physician integration models, which promote coordinated care among multiple health care providers, further highlights the importance of thoughtful, innovative, and systematic credentialing, privileging and peer-review practices that address incentive-driven health care delivery by competent and efficient practitioners.

Mark joined Nossaman’s Healthcare Group in January of 2024.
