Maya Hamouie is an associate in the Firm’s Real Estate Practice Group. She focuses her practice on complex commercial disputes in both state and federal courts, representing clients in a diverse range of industries. She advises clients on legal issues that could affect their business operations and the appropriate actions they should consider taking to avoid litigation. She is also heavily involved in drafting motions, briefs, pleadings, and discovery requests and responses. 

Prior to joining Nossaman, Ms. Hamouie was an associate at a nationally recognized litigation firm. Her experience included drafting various motions and legal memorandums on breach of contract and evidentiary issues involving work product, expert witnesses, and hearsay, taking depositions, attending court hearings, and serving as second chair in a trial before an Administrative Law Judge. 

Additionally, she clerked for the Honorable Wesley R. Ward at the Harris County Civil Courthouse. In this role, she researched laws and court decisions related to the cases before the court, as well as drafted memorandums, briefs, and statements of issues.

Representative Work

  • Health Insurance Company. Member of litigation team defending client against class action involving the Telephone Consumer Protection Act in federal court. 
  • County of Los Angeles - Member of litigation team representing the County in a fraud and negligent misrepresentation case against an accounting firm.
  • Various Public Agencies. Represents public agencies acquiring property from individuals and business owners for a variety of projects.
  • Restaurant Chain. Assist in defending client in action for breach of lease agreement and representing client in countersuit against the landlord for breach of contract, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation.
  • International Manufacturer of Toddler Products. Member of litigation team that defended manufacturer of high end toddler and infant products against class action and individual products liability lawsuits in state and federal court. 
  • Residential Treatment Center. Assisted in defending client in cases arising under premises liability, negligence, and the Medical Liability Act.
  • Construction Company. Assisted in representing custom home building company in breach of contract action in state court against defendant who acted unilaterally to terminate the parties’ construction agreement.
  • Transportation Company. Assisted in defense of client sued for vicarious liability of assault claim and for negligent supervision and training of its employees. Work included researching and drafting brief that resulted in summary judgment in favor of the client.
  • Offshore Marine Employers. Assisted in representing employers in the offshore marine industry against claims arising under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act. Work included analyzing and advising clients on jurisdictional issues and defending clients in disability claims.
