Longtime Nossaman Policy Advisor Shelby Hagenauer Named Deputy Commissioner For Bureau of Reclamation

Nossaman would like to congratulate its former Senior Policy Advisor, Shelby Hagenauer, on her appointment as Deputy Commissioner for the Bureau of Reclamation.  Ms. Hagenauer was appointed to the position on October 29, 2018.  Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Brenda Burman said Ms. Hagenauer’s “understanding of natural resource policy and knowledge of Capitol Hill will be a great asset for Reclamation.  Her policy experience will help us craft common sense water policy and enable us to better deliver water and hydroelectric power to the west.”

Ms. Hagenauer was a member of Nossaman’s Public Policy Practice Group from 2011-2018.  Prior to joining Nossaman, she served on the staffs of current House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA-23) and former House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Bill Thomas.

Established in 1902, Reclamation is best known for  the dams, power plants, and canals it constructed in the 17 western states, including the Central Valley Project in California.  It is the largest wholesale water supplier in the United States, and the nation's second largest producer of hydroelectric power.  Its facilities also provide substantial flood control, recreation, and fish and wildlife benefits.  News of Ms. Hagenauer’s appointment was noted in California Water News Daily, which can be read here.
