Nossaman Partner Henry Weinstock is quoted in the article, “Judgment near in water suit,” which discusses the decade long battle over water rights in the Santa Maria Valley. The latest development in the case is a proposed judgment recently issued in Santa Clara Superior Court. Nossaman’s Water Law Practice Group represents several parties who, according to the article, earned a complete victory in the proposed judgment and include Arroyo Grande, Pismo Beach, Grover Beach and Oceano Community Services District.
The case began with more than 1,000 involved parties, 750 of whom agreed to a settlement over two years ago. However, there were around 70 landowners who have continued to fight the settlement agreement, referred to as non-stipulating parties. Regarding the recent judgment, Henry Weinstock said, “non-stipulating parties didn't get any rights [to groundwater] in the Northern Cities area.” For more information on Nossaman’s involvement in the Santa Maria groundwater adjudication, please click here.
