Nossaman Gains White Collar Crime Practice and Two Laterals; Michael Heumann Re-elected Managing Partner

SACRAMENTO (June 6, 2008) Geoffrey Goodman joined Nossaman Guthner Knox & Elliott LLP as a Partner this week in Sacramento. Mr. Goodman specializes in white collar crime and has a practice that ties in well with Nossaman's 30 attorney healthcare group, heavily represented in Sacramento. In addition, Daniel Abramoff, an associate in the Orange County has joined the firm's real estate practice.

In addition to adding talent to the firm's core practice areas, Nossaman has re-elected Managing Partner, Michael Heumann, who is now serving his second year-long term leading the firm.

"I'm appreciative of the opportunity and of the trust my fellow partners have placed in me to carry out the goals and strategies we've identified for moving Nossaman forward," said Heumann. "Part of that strategy includes identifying and recruiting lateral partners and associates that add dimension and depth to our core practice areas. We are excited to have Geoff and Dan join us. Each brings unique experience and talent to the firm and its clients."

"Michael is a consensus builder," said Partner Fred Fudacz. "His management style reinforces the collegial working atmosphere of the firm which is a hallmark of our history and founding. He's MBA trained, from Stanford no less, something I imagine is unusual for a law firm Managing Partner. As a result of his leadership, the firm is more professionally managed."

Nossaman has been seeking expanded office space in Sacramento and Los Angeles and recently added several thousand square feet. "We've had a number of key hires over the past year and would like to accommodate our current needs as well as provide enough space for continued strategic growth," said John Kennedy, Administrative Partner in Sacramento. "The benefits of adding a white collar crime practice in Sacramento have long been apparent to the firm and we've been patient in looking for the right fit. Geoff was worth the wait and we're pleased to have him on board."

"One of the things that attracted me to Nossaman is the firm's existing medical licensing work, which overlaps with aspects of my practice," said Geoff Goodman. "I regularly handle peer review and licensing issues which will add depth to the healthcare group here. That's in addition to my focus on white collar crime, which represents a new area of specialty at Nossaman and is my primary focus."

Goodman joins the firm from Murphy Austin Adams Schoenfeld LLP in Sacramento where he led the white collar defense team. He earned a B.A. at the University of Southern California and a J.D. at the University of California, Los Angeles. Abramoff, whose practice focuses on real estate law, is a graduate of Yeshiva University and of Fordham University, where he earned a J.D.
