Fred Dombo, Chair of Nossaman's Public Policy Practice Group, recently attended  the annual Gala at the Ford's Theater which, for more than 40 years, has honored notables from business, government, philanthropy and entertainment for their charitable efforts. This year, the Gala recognized individuals  who turned the tragedy of 9/11 into an opportunity for service and generosity, and among those honored was Jay Winuk, founder of 911day.org and Mygoodeed.org-- both are longtime pro-bono clients of the Firm  and  Mr. Dombo has worked with both  on a variety of projects over the years.  President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump attended the event, and had kind words for the honorees.  Additional attendees included Vice President Mike Pence and Karen Pence,  Sens. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), Richard Durbin (D-Ill.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and Ed Markey (D-Mass.), House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi as well as former US Senator and Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole. At the event, former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning and businessman and philanthropist Ronald Perelman received the Lincoln Medal--which the theater's society gives to individuals whose body of work, accomplishments or personal attributes embodies Lincoln's legacy.
