Establishing 9/11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance

We successfully lobbied, on a pro bono basis, for the 9/11 legacy volunteer organization myGoodDeed.org.

We reached out to Members of Congress to build support on both sides of the political aisle to establish federal authorization to honor the many people impacted by September 11.  It is important to remember the tremendous support and outpouring of volunteers who responded to the crisis.

President Barack Obama signed the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act on April 2009.  The law established September 11 as a national day of service and remembrance.  Earlier, Nossaman assisted MyGoodDeed.org in securing commitments from the Obama and McCain campaigns to abstain from campaigning on 9/11 and in having President Bush include service and volunteerism in his last 9/11 proclamation.
