Establishment of 9/11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance

Nossaman successfully lobbied on a pro bono basis for the 9/11 legacy volunteer organization  We reached out to Members of Congress to build support on both sides of the political aisle to establish federal authorization to honor the many people impacted by September 11 by remembering the tremendous support and outpouring of volunteers who responded to the crisis.

President Barack Obama signed the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act on April 2009. The law establishes September 11 as a national day of service and remembrance.  Earlier Nossaman assisted in securing commitments from the Obama and McCain campaigns to abstain from campaigning on 9/11 and in having President Bush include service and volunteerism in his last 9/11 proclamation.
