Nossaman was featured in the Newsweek article, Turning 9/11 Into a Day of Service and Remembrance that ran on September 11, 2015. The article highlighted the efforts of nonprofit organization MyGoodDeed—a pro bono client of Nossaman—to successfully turn 9/11 into a National Day of Service and Remembrance. Nossaman partner Fred Dombo’s work was instrumental in helping MyGoodDeed achieve this recognition for 9/11, which was made official in 2009 when President Barack Obama signed the Edward M. Kennedy National Service Act.  Dombo also helped MyGoodDeed move forward a Presidential Proclamation endorsing the organization's goals that was signed by President Bush in 2007,  and helped the organization call for a cease to presidential campaigning on September 11, 2008. Instead of stump speeches, both Presidential nominees (then Senator Barack  Obama and Senator John McCain) curtailed critical campaigning and attended the Service Nation Summit,  promoting volunteerism as a way to honor and remember 9/11.

The Newsweek article featured a photo of Mr. Dombo, Associate Puja Bhatia, and Senior Policy Advisor Sherry Harper with MyGoodDeed President and Co-Founder David Paine at a September 11, 2014 service event where they helped  build a playground at the Inspired Teaching Demonstration Public Charter School in Washington, D.C. MyGoodDeed helped organize  the event. Nossaman continues to work with MyGoodDeed on a pro bono basis.
