Nossaman Partner and Chair of the Firm’s Litigation Practice Group, David Graeler, was quoted in the Los Angeles Business Journal story, A Look Ahead: What’s On The Agenda for Los Angeles Business. The article examined the positive impact that the May 20, 2016 opening of the Expo Line - which will connect downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica - will have on real estate adjacent to the project. The article notes that the project has helped property values along the rail line, and that the average price per-square foot for land along the extension increased to $774 by the end of 2015, up from an average of $668 in 2013. The story highlights Mr. Graeler’s eminent domain work for the Los Angeles Exposition Metro Line Construction Authority, and notes that he and the Nossaman team handled all eminent domain cases…relating to the project. Mr. Graeler stated that the rail agencies he’s represented are very fair to property owners and try to avoid eminent domain cases, and that real negotiations occur that often lead to deals.
