Nossaman News Release

Litigation and Appellate Partner Jennifer Meeker and Environment & Land Use Partner Steven Kaufmann recently prevailed in the Second District Court of Appeal in the case entitled Fudge v. California Coastal Commission.  Jenny teamed up with Steve, who is one of the foremost coastal land use lawyers in California with over four decades of experience representing the California Coastal Commission and landowners, developers, public entities, and public utilities with matters before that agency.

Jenny utilized her extensive experience as an appellate advocate to convince the Court of Appeal to reject Appellant Mark Fudge’s numerous challenges to the trial court’s decision to uphold the California Coastal Commission’s approval of their client Laguna Beach Golf and Bungalow Village LLC’s renovation of the Ranch at Laguna Beach.  After prevailing in the Court of Appeal, Jenny argued in response to Mr. Fudge’s petition for review in the California Supreme Court that the review was not warranted because the Court of Appeal correctly followed settled statutory law in affirming the trial court’s judgment.

The California Supreme Court denied review on January 2, 2019.  The client is thrilled with result achieved by Jenny and Steve. This victory is another example of Nossaman attorneys teaming together to fight for the best possible outcome for their clients.
